WINTER BREAKOUT BRINGS AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE TO VANCOUVER [REVIEW]

December 21, 2018

Vancouver, BC - This past December 14th we threw our second edition to the BREAKOUT Festival at Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum in partnership with Timbre Concerts. Winter BREAKOUT was headlined by Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti and Killy with performances from Valee, Killumantii and last minute surprise guest Pressa.

Of course we had to put on for Vancouver with performances from ILLYMINACHI, ACDATYOUNGN*GGA, Rude Nala and Yurmsauce. As the doors opened at 6pm with DJ Softie Shan fans rushed to the front of the stage to be first in line to catch Yurmsauce open the event. Bringing out fellow Vancouver artists Angst and Anklegod, Yurms put on a perfectly hype performance to kick off the evening.

Rude Nala came out next to heat up the stage and brought a fan from the crowd to witness her bad girl routine up close leading into an energetic performance from ACDATYOUNGN*GGA. Fans began to sing back his lyrics as he dropped crowd favourites like "YoungN*ggaThemeSong" and "Dead&Gone". In between sets Raiden got the crowd super lit as he DJ'ed every single hot track that was dropped in 2018.

ILLYMINIACHI lit up the stage next with mesmerizing visuals and a quality performance that included tracks like "Imposter" and an unreleased track "Achieve".

Generation Now artist Killumantii made her Vancouver debut during Winter BREAKOUT and made a room full of new fans with her cadence and on point bars. Valee was next up and mellowed out the vibe as he stepped on stage with his hood up and a freshly lit Backwood to drop his popular tracks "Miami" and "Womp Womp".

After announcing earlier in the day that Pressa would be making an appearance at BREAKOUT, Big Press Machine came out and had fans going crazy during his tracks "Novacane", "Canada Goose" and "She's So Pretty" followed by super lit set from KILLY. Lighting up the stage with hits from Surrender Your Soul and Killstreak, KILLY started a most pit to his hits "No Sad No Bad" and "Killamanjaro".

After a long pause with no music in between, slime green lights and visuals flashed along with screen with giant Vlone V's on either side of the stage. Playboi Carti's very anticipated set lived up to the expected hype as he came out to rage to tracks like "Magnolia" and "Woke Up Like This" that had everyone in the building singing back his lyrics.

As Carti walked off stage another long pause took place before the crowd started to chant "UZI! UZI!" impatiently waiting for the evening's headliner. It was worth the wait because as soon as Lil Uzi Vert stepped on stage the entire room was a vibe! The energy was next level during tracks like "New Patek", "XO Tour Llif3" and "Sauce It Up'. Every dance move was on point and Uzi gave all of his energy back to the crowd, and they felt it. While he didn't drop any new singles from his upcoming album Eternal Atake he did bring out Pressa to perform their collab track "420 In London". A very epic day for Canadian music, as Uzi has always been outspoken about his support for the Toronto rapper.

Fans we ecstatic about the outcome of Winter BREAKOUT and left feeling the love and looking forward to the next event. Stay tuned for an upcoming Summer BREAKOUT Festival announcement but in the meantime, check out our recap videos above and below.
