10 THINGS WE LEARNED FROM KEVIN HART'S BREAKFAST CLUB INTERVIEW

October 13, 2016

Philadelphia comedy star Kevin Hart didn't disappoint when he sat down for an interview with the breakfast club earlier this year. They jumped onto so many topics it was hard to narrow it down to the 10 best: From his method of success in the entertainment industry, his past and current relationship, his family, and life events, Hart managed to keep it real for the fans and talk about true importances in life (and kept us laughing the whole time).

1.   His view on the haters…

“I’m too positive, I don't have room for anger, I don't have room for negativity. I'm a blessed guy, I know where I come from, I see what I've worked hard to achieve, and the fact that I'm doing it, checking things off the list, thats huge… do you know I'm signed by Nike?"

2. On his deal with Nike…

“My whole journey is making people realise their whole potential… I’ve created something called ‘Move with Hart’. Anybody that doesn't work out can take that first step in the right direction. And in 2016, you can run with me in my journey through my ‘Move With Harts’, my ‘Hustle Harts’ (the shoes), all these different activities that I do I do them in different cities, so it’s cross fit, it’s different training events where I go… It’s not a sneaker for fashion…this is the first sneaker that’s basically built for anything: run, jump, cut, lifting, I do it still. I've got a sneak that serves for everything that I need in my workout facility.”

3. The keys to success…

“Opportunities are definitely getting bigger and better, but the scary thing is keeping that realistic point of view, that any point in time it can all be taken away, “snatched”… I am going to do any and everything it can right now to set myself up long term so I don't have to worry about my life when it is snatched or when something is wrong…Nothing is forever so that’s when the business comes in show business, you have to be smart and that’s where I set myself up because I'm mobile: thats why I'm producing, writing, directing, thats why I'm funding projects, I'm EP-ing different things, and the tour branches off into me producing other specials for other comedians. I'm setting up the brand for the brand to last regardless of my longevity. Granted, I plan on being here for a long time, but who knows, these movies may be out banging now, but 10 years from now they may not, so if I set myself up in so many pots i’ll be fine.”

4. His girlfriend Eniko has a special nick-name …

“I call her my rib. I don't think people understand what that means. It’s from the bible, rib is something that you cant live without, or not supposed to live without… I’ve got a good one man.”

5. On Steve Harvey crowning the wrong girl at the 2015 pageant…

“He manned up about it. (Kevin talking as Steve - “Ain’t nothing I can do about it, I'm wrong”), but for people who don't know, did you know Steve owns a part of that pageant? … Man Steve Harvey is one of the smartest business men that I know. ‘Unc’ is what I call him. The information that comes from ‘Unc' is so valuable…Steve is in agriculture, this guys head is wrapped so tight that its ridiculous.”

6. On his brothers career…

“My brother is a professional pool player…in those tournaments where they travel the world. He is well in that realm. I sponsor my brother. I put him up in the tournaments… he's getting closer to his dream and thats what I love: That he's the older brother that hasn't gotten caught up in the younger brothers success.”

7. The royal family has wildly exotic pets in Dubai…

“We get out, theres tigers and lions everywhere, theres about 9 of them. They have a liger. A liger is a lion and a tiger combined. There’s only 50 of them in the world. This is his pet…We go to this big cage, there’s chimps, these are his pets! Like they play with him, they know the sheik (Monkey sounds)… An orangutang comes out on a four-wheeler, listen to me…just casually they say, ‘he likes to ride the four-wheeler around so we let him.’”

8. On his DUI…

“My one mistake was getting a DUI. Won’t happen to again, best thing to ever happen to me. I don't drive anywhere if I'm drinking… I got my smack on the hand. ‘No, wont get me again guys, it’s serious, drinking and driving, I won’t do it again sir’. I got married, I got divorced, I know what I did… imma do it right this time.”

9. His relationship with Will Smith…

“I saw Smith at the globes, and man, me and the guy, we had a little moment. I’m all about the fans, I’m nothing without y’all, show love no matter where I’m at, imma go over here and take pictures. As soon as he saw me, we get out the car, the fans are going crazy like “Kevin! Will!”. First thing he said is come on man, let’s go over there and say something to the fans. I was like that’s so dope that  you still have that in you, because he set that precedent. He's the one that did that first. He’s a global star cuz he went all over the world shaking hands when no body else would, and he still has that mentality. So that’s a Philly guy that I definitely respect”

10. How his mom raised him...

“My mom was strict as hell. People ask where does the work ethic come from, is it inherited, and that’s all my mom. You know, you got a single woman raising two boys by herself, doing any and everything to keep them off the streets, and anything I mean anything. My mom was the whoop yo ass on site mother. Street lights on you're in the house. We gon’ sit here and eat, do your schoolwork, you gon’ talk to me about your day, were gonna write down our goals, she was that person.”
